Tail position/strobe light combination
Does anyone know if a tail position/strobe light combination such as:

will suffice as a tail position AND anti-collision light on an RV7 with regards to regulations?
Thanks
Tim

here is another concern.....cutting the radio stack height. The width of each radio is easy, but what about the cumulative height of four radios? Simply add all the individual heights? What about extra for any trim around each radio? Maybe Im over thinking this issue in advance. It might be more obv...

Mike I agree with you on the old fashioned method of drawing and cutting with a jigsaw. Over the course of the day, I am concluding that a jigsaw is just fine, per Brantel and yourself. I spoke to the big man at Avery earlier this afternoon; he tells me he will rent the hole punch for $30 for for 4 ...

Panel design and cut outs
Ive been studying how to cut circular and rectangular holes for my RV7A tip up panel. The two methods Im looking at are the brute force and cad/cam methods. The brute force method basically involves drawing actual size holes on the panel then cutting. I ordered a DVD from some guys in Wisconsin that...

Yeah, this is a full IFR airplane (be it minimal) I’ve haven’t given those other Garmins much thought….but I think I will take a look. The AFS ( http://www.advanced-flight-systems.com/index.html )EFIS is full IFR approved has everything you need including Flight director, I’m told, even thou...

My rv7a Panel
http://img260.imageshack.us/img260/1110/panelready4rm0.th.jpg http://img260.imageshack.us/images/thpix.gif This is an RV7a My philosophy is not to have a lot of redundancy if not necessary. Both the AFS EFIS and Garmin 430 are TSO’d for IFR. The 430 is certified as a single means of navigation. I...

Wanted: Good Lycoming Rebuilt IO-360
I’m getting ready to order the finish kit for my RV7a, so I have to decide on an engine first. I believe a good Lycoming rebuilt or equivalent 200hp IO360 is the way to go. Not sure which configuration is best. Anyone know any good suppliers of rebuilds? NE Ohio. No prop strike engines. Tim

Belly Tank
Has anybody ever installed an external belly tank on an RV7a, similar to a WW2 drop tank? I envision one 20 gallon tank mounted under the belly would increase weight by about 200 lbs and add an extra 2 hours of range. Any thoughts?

Subaru vs. Lycoming
I’m currently starting an RV7 project and giving serious consideration to the Subaru 200 hp engine. I like the idea of using a modern, quieter engine with less vibration, the ability to use auto fuel, ease of getting parts from the local parts stores. Of course, some will argue (and I know one guy a...
