...and another thing!

Post by captain_john »

Howzabout making a "View new posts" link on the message viewing page. This way, after posting we can see if anyone else posted anything while I have been surfing instead of having to return to the homepage each time.

Hmm, not sure if I understand what your looking for. You want to be able to see if any new posts are available while viewing a thread ? When you say without visiting the home page do you mean without going to the www.rivetbangers.com splash page or without going to the main forum listing ?

Or how about a "View unread posts" ? Other PHP Bulletin boards offer this. I find it pretty handy. That way all new posts come up when I click it whether or not I've actually left the site. Or is this how "View posts since last visit" works? :?

Well there actually is a "veiw new posts" link on the right side of the bbs on the main page. Right about the top most forum.

What I mean is to put the http://www.rivetbangers.com/cgi-php/for ... d=newposts (view new posts) hyper link on each message page.

This way we have one less page to navigate to after replying to a message.

Hahaha!

...and maybe place the link next to the "jump to" pull down? This way we are viewing the last post and can readily click it.

Is this what you guys were thinking? Look at the bottom left across from the "jump to" pull Down.
