Printable version

Post by captain_john »

Spike,

In chatting with a local builder, I mentioned your site. His beef was the lack of a printable version. I hadn't given it much thought, but he is right. In the past, I have printed stuff out to stick into my 3-ring bound builders log. Occasionally, it will help to explain a decision or WHATEVER...

What do you think? Can ya plug one in for us?

I see how it is... we give and give and give; and you just ask for more. (Just kidding)

If there's a plugin out there, Spike will find it for ya. :D

Hmm, looks like I have a line on a mod that will put up a print button which should bring a topic up in a printer friendly manor. Ill look into it after the holidays.

Spike,

Gotta admit it was me that planted the seed in CJ's mind! After lunch we were talking about the fourms and I mentioned it is the only drawback to RB. I spend a lot of time on RB and VAF forums and really like some of the features you have on RB, like email and some others, but found that I printed many things for keeping in my notebook. But the real reason I print a lot of stuff is that I am in grad school and spend three conscutive hours in class each day. I find RV stuff is a lot more fun to read than listening about national security strategy and the likes! :bang: ! I know Doug Reeves has a printable format button and a few of the other non RV lists have the same. Think they use the same software as RB.

Sorry to be a pain, just one of the features I really like. Thanks for all the hard work.

Take care,

Jim

No pain at all really. I want RB to be as good as it possibly can be. The more useful it is to people the more people will use it, and the more helpful it will be. As far as I know though I think we are the only ones using PHPBB which has some great mods out there. Thanx again and I hope to get the printer friendly option installed in a day or two.

Hi Jim!

The thing I forgot to mention to you when you were here was the main reason I like THIS forum.

I like it because most of the people here are at roughly the same stage as we. This way, we are learing together and doing things in a similar fashion.

Glad to see you chiming in!

Post frequently! I would like to hear about your progress! Let us see some pics of that QB!

Ok guys, I just added in functionality for generating a printable format of threads. Test it out and let me know what you think. I am not completely fond of the layout personally but it should be good enough for now. Comments are welcome as long as they aren't demanding or create more work for me 8) Anyway, its way past my bedtime. See you in the AM.

Not bad in my opinion. Gets the job done, and it's very easy to read! What's not to like?

I thought it was confusing to the eye and it definately was not in keeping with the RB visual theme. I changed the template and it now looks much better. To me anyway. Hope you guys find it useful.

Hey that's even better! I was referring to the bold font being easy to read. The format was a little confusing, but I could get used to it.

Now you've gone and made it better!! What a guy! :)

Nice job spike!

Spike,

Thanks a lot for the pritable version. Got me through five boring hours of class today!!! Also, I think the second version is so much better than the first. VERY easy to read and looks great.

Appreciate the effort to improve the board.

Take care,

Jim
