For the Garmin stuff the best price is Stark Avionics. Nobody can beat them and they are good people to work with.

Why do you need 3 nav radios? Why do you need 2 CDI's? Consider replacing the Falcon AI with the TruTrak ADI (more bang for the buck).

Here is the TT ADI description:

ADI

Bank angle is instantaneous gyro data.
Pitch is gyro enhanced vertical speed.
Direction is an electronic DG showing
track. Extreme bank angle is enunciated by flashing red arrows which indicate required stick motion to correct unusual attitude. Low airspeed warning is enunciated by flashing A-S on the display. Solid state rate gyros for pitch and roll.

Built in GPS (optional).
Backup battery (optional)

3.4”H x 3.4”W x 4.6”D
12-28 volts - Weight - 12 oz

3-1/8” ADI - $1095
Internal GPS option - $150
Backup battery option - $100

Exactly. Pitch is VSI based, though Im curious to know what 'gyro enhanced" means.

why two

Post by aparchment »

Actually I only need 2 com radios, but I am not sure if I will do the GNS 430 yet. If I don't do the 430 I will need both the SL30 and the Icom.

I want two CDIs because 1) if the EFIS goes out I want a backup, 2) I think the round CDI/glideslope is easier to read, 3) I don't care for the CDI readout on the SL30.

I am not entirely comfortable with pitch being gyro enhanced vertical speed, so I think I will stick with the Falcon AI or a similar electric AI.

Thanks for the tip on Stark Avionics ptrotter.

Very well thought out Antony. I'd be interested in seeing your load analysis when you get to that point.
