Free mystery antenna came my way

I had this antenna given to me yesterday, and I think it's similar to the RAMI 534 antenna, but there's nothing that says what this one is...

I need to figure out if this is worth a try, or if I should just bite the freakin' stupid expensive bullet again, and get the Comant bent whip?

Willy Weez got it! It's an OLD picture that I found on the net that had been scanned in, so it's hard to see, but that's it. The guy holding the map is a pilot...

If it was a certified aircraft thats a no-go, but thats whats great about building your own. Maybe someone knows how to test it. If it works, I would slap it on.
