Becker radios

Post by Norm Pesch »

Tried to use a Becker Com from Germany as a second radio with my Garmin 430 in my RV-8, NO GOOD!
The becker is OK alone but has too sensitive a receiver to use with the Garmin---when ever you transmit on the GARMIN you get a loud feed back on the becker unless of course you turn the becker off
Tried all locations with the antenaes etc no help and no constructive help from becker ( I think they are aware of this problem )

What about exchanging it for something like the MicroAir 760?

Just something to think about; This is not a problem that is isolated to Becker. I have the 430 and a KX155 in my 172 and I also get cross talk between the radios. Ive talked to a few avionics shops about this and the consistent response seems to be to just de-select the 2nd comm when this happens. For us its only on a few selected frequencies and its not that bad though. Just enough to make the side tones somewhat garbled though the transmissions are fine.
