Try that one on me again. You sure about this? Why would they certify this product in the face of the new 770 line announced at Osh?

Yes.

It is the BK 840, as I recall.

Here is a pic:

Here is Rob's:

...also, Rob told me about the deal he made with BK.

That is why they share many features, like the way the speed and altitude tapes appear.

Am I sure, you ask...

I don't say ANYTHING that I am not sure of!

This www.avweb.com article has a better write up on the BK unit:

Check out the features!

Still Confused...

Post by smithhb »

CJ,

I still don't understand why BK would invest and try to market "three" PFDs to the GA market. As I see it, the 770 is the product to compete with the Garmin 900, the 840 is a lower-end PFD/MFD/Map designed to target the VFR market....and the AFS unit will be for ????

Why would BK be interested in the AFS unit when they have their own 840 unit already?

The 840 unit IS the AFS unit!

they're not identical, but they're based on the same code platform, and they share some display elements.

I was set on the Dynon D-100 and the EMS D120, or perhaps the D-180 to have a second AHRS for redundancy (mission is day and night VFR for now). The D-180 costs $1000 more, but perhaps cheaper than 3 backup steam instruments. However, the AFS 3500 sure was sweet. It's cost is substantially more, though. I spoke with the Dynon rep a bit, who hinted at an integrated com/?nav, moving map over the next year, so I will watch for now. For sure, this glass scene is growing fast!

Yes. Not only did it give all of the signs, but the sales doodle told me I crashed it (after he put his eyes back in his head) and then I watched him reboot it.

I am not sure that you are sure...

I am pretty sure of that.

On a serious note, this thread:

http://www.vansairforce.com/community/s ... hp?t=20025

on the other forum has a reply from Rob explaining that it was only running demo software so I wouldn't lose any sleep over it.

Say, where is the hyperlink style button I have been asking for for a year now!!!

Yeah, he did say that. Though it sounded like the demo software runs the real code base, but adds on a stimulation package to send fake data from sensors. Either way ...

As for your button, I haven't had the time to write any code dude. Sorry. Im not positive I know what you want though. Go back to your site support thread you started regarding this and clarify.

Cool! Do you remember the exact button combination? It might be fun at parties.

No, I don't unfortunately. I was just trying to find the W&B page by randomly running through the menu options.

AFS 3500 all lit up :)

Post by Wicked Stick »

Image

I got a little time tonight to temporarily wire up my AF-3500EE on the bench. (made sure I grounded it both to pin 3 and to the screw in the back, then I also wired in the 5 amp fuse too.)

I spent about 20 minutes getting familiar with all the different features on it. I was UNable to duplicate Spike's crash so I figured I had to come upstairs and post a pic/message :)

That sure is a new unit and is definitely on my short list. Who knows what features it might have by time I need glass for my panel.

Actually that bench is really level, I made sure of it when I constructed it. The display is off because the back of the unit isn't the same height/dimension as the front. I had to prop it up with a wooden stick in the back to get it semi close to level.

Hello Dave,
The AFS-3500 looks great can't wait till I get mine.
How long did you have it on order before you received the unit?
