Good Q!

They usually come in the FWF kit. The Vans ones are renowned, far and wide to be cheesy.

I think an upgrade would be prudent.

Garmin never talks turkey.

I will see what Spruce can do.

Do you want the 327 or what?

I don't know how much of a deal you could work on a 327 transponder (or any other garmin panel mount avionics). New they go for $1700, and Garmin won't let shops sell them to homebuilders without the shop selling you a harness. On Ebay, used ones seem to go in the $1250-1350 range.

I'm looking hard on the used market because a lot of them are in mint condition from people upgrading to 330's. However, that fad seems to be diminishing as people are waiting off on the 330's to see what ADS-B will do.

Well, I do have some preliminary numbers that come in right in the middle of what you are talking about, Mike!

If I could put that together, would you be interested?

Anyone else?

CJ-

I *might* be interested. If I find a good deal on a used 327, then I would be all over that. Is there going to be an additional charge for a harness? If so, that's a deal breaker for me. I am rolling my own!

Why don't you get started on something I can't get a deal on used....like a Sammy James cowl!

Garmin specifies that all harnesses be factory or dealer made in order to comply with the warranty.

I won't be doing a SJ cowling deal. Sorry.

I only do deals on things that I will be using.

 Call me selfish, but I need to make it worth my while somehow.

So...does this mean we will be seeing a deal on a travel bar complete with a cold beer tap?

Ah, you guys buying new garmin stuff need to worry about 'em warranties!
captain_john wrote: I only do deals on things that I will be using.
If that's the case, then why are you asking for suggestions for future group buys? Shouldn't you just be tellin' us what's next?

Mike, Odds are... we will be buying similar things anyways. I just was wondering about timing.

Chad, Mine is being delivered. I would guess that they are filling orders on a first come, first serve basis.

It is a good thing you don't need it now. If you did, you would have been one of the first to place your order!

...in which case, you would be getting it earlier.

Simple stuff!

Yeah, I'm not upset about it. It's just one of those things that "figures".

I checked my account this morning, and even though I received the email saying they made the charge, nothing has posted yet.

Thanks CJ,

I guess it would depend on "HOW LONG" it will be back ordered.
If it's only a week or two, I'm ok with waiting, but if you think they are anticipating a long term wait, then it would be nice to at least borrow it to help with cutting the panel and figuring out if it will fit in a certain area.

If you do a GB on the 327, you should check with Stark. His reg. price is $1480 + $70 for the pre-wire + $17 for shipping. I don't know if he would be willing to cut that anymore but its worth a try.

Bri, the Garmin stuff has SUCH a close margin... it'll be not worthwhile. Too bad, really. They have good stuff!

I did talk to Stark and he is willing to work with us.

Maybe on something other than Garmin?
