Well, here is my instrument panel:
Lots of work to do still, but now it really does feel like an airplane!

Just curious... why the extra plates of aluminum on outside edges where the switches are?

The interior is going to be painted with the hammered finish silver, and rather than mask the sub-panels, they will be painted to match the rest of the interior. The small plates will then be painted to match the main instrument panel.

I see, thanks for the explanation. Would like to see a picture of that when it's done.
I'd be a little cautious about making the panel area anything shiny or glaring though. Something flat or satin should look nice and reduce any glare from the sun.

I agree Dave. I am planning something on the order of a flat or satin charcoal gray. I haven't decided yet, and since the panel and inserts are removable, I don't have to paint them until the last minute.

Im not normally a "Glass cockpit" kindof guy, but i really like your panel Pat.
Simple layout, yet still looks techy.
Have you just gone with single Comms, or does one of them glass things gots a second nav/comm setup in it?

I think the hammered finish is perfect for this task. Its textured nature reduces glare, and also hides fingerprints. I got the idea for this originally from Joe Schumacher in the From the Ground Up series. He used a needle setting to accomplish the same thing.

The avionics stack includes an SL30 nav/com and a GNC300XL gps/com. This gives me an approach certified GPS and an ILS with two coms.

Pat,
that panel looks HOT! You're gonna feel like your climbing into an F15 or something every time you sit in front of it.
