Icom A210 wiring, Molex connector
Icom A210 wiring, Molex connector
I'm using the Molex connector for the A210, so I thought I'd post some pics of the steps that I'm taking. Yours may be different after these first few steps, but the jumpers, ground, and power will be the same for everyone...
20awg jumpers-
18awg grounds-
18awg power-
I'll post more as I start wires to the intercom...

Looks great Chad! After I get my order from Stein this week, I should be working on the same thing. Great timing!

Lots of fun getting multiple wires into those pins isn't it Chad. I just finished helping a 7 builder get his A210 installed last night. He has one radio and is using the intercom feature which seems to work fine. Just remember to put that jumper in (or the switch) if you expect the intercom to work. If you forget, you can also jumper pins 4 to 10 after the fact if you don't have a speaker as pins 4 and 8 are connected together on the circuit board.

Chadrick...Looks great! Wiring is my new favorite building stage! No deburring, priming, painting, curing or sanding! Just rip and roll!

Hey Bob...it's at the bottom of the notes in the wiring section...
Also, I took Stein's advise, and last night I changed my jammed 18awg two in to one pin connection, to two splices off the main splice. They are still 18awg, but no longer two in one pin.
I did NOT change the 18awg power wires that I have two in one pin because I soldered those two in, and they are solid. I'm still gonna ask about that one tho...

I am wondering why everyone seems to be using the molex connector and no one is using the DB15 From the installation manual, I don't see much that isn't on the DB15 that is on the molex connector that applies to us. Plus no jumpering of wires.

The DB can only be used if you're using an SL40 or other-than-Icom tray...the Icom tray will only accept the Molex connector unfortunately. I have heard that the Molex allows for more flexibility though. I don't know what that applies to tho since I have such a simple panel. I'm probably not taking advantage of some wizbang feature...
I would MUCH rather use the DB, but can't...

Chad-
Thanks for the logical explanation. Might be time for me to punch a DB15 hole in the back of tray, or find a SL40 tray.

Same here. In fact, I'm going to try to get down to SteinAir early this afternoon to restock.cjensen wrote:Yep! Tefzel Mil...Womack2005 wrote:Just curious as to what type wire you guys are using. Mil Spec?
