Anyone have a clue for me on how to get the clamp on the right onto the antenna stub on the ICOM A210?

Ohhh...that thing SUCKS! It took me several tries to get it on...until I borrowed the proper pliers to do it. Can you get your hands on a pair of snap ring pliers?

Ugh. This is going to be another one of those deals where I spent a bunch of money to get a one-time-use tool, is it? Gah.

Somebody has to have a pair nearby...if not, just run to Ace Hardware or someplace with an aviation tool isle, and buy a cheap pair for the few times you'll use them. Less than $5... 8)

Bob,

Sears sells the snap ring pliers. I don't recall them being particularly expensive either. They do have other handy uses. I find I use them a couple times a month.

If you can't find any let me know and I'll send you my snap ring pliers, send them back when you're done.

Thanks, guys. My next plane will be built in the half time because I don't have these breaks to go buy stuff.

If you get the one that has bent tips on it, you can reach up thru the big hole in the bottom easier and not have to get you whole hand up in the tray to get it on straight.

Very good point here...the front edges of the tray (as you probably already know) are like razors...get the bent tips to save your knuckles.

Mission accomplished. I bought a pair of pliers from Sears ($11) and go the clamp on.

Now, is there any other time I'm going to use that tool on this airplane?

Sears has an excellent return policy!

I bet they were the wrong color anyways. You probably wanted something other than red and black.

snap ring pliers?....no, no, no! I told my wife I needed lawn mower blades.

Probably won't need them again. I have a pair and have only used them a dozen times in 20yrs. But when you need 'em, you gots to have them.

My question is where can I get the above connector. I bought my ICOM used and this connector is missing! Leaving me with no way to hook the antenna up........I tried the local Radio shack.

I would start with a local ICOM dealer if you have one.

http://www.icomamerica.com/en/dealers/dealers.aspx

If you have no local dealer:
Icom America Parts Department
2380 116th Ave NE
Bellevue, WA 98004
(800) 346-0495
Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM Pacific Time

They might be available at well stocked electronics parts store, but they are not that common of a connector.

Finding the actual part number and using google may find a place you can mail order one from.

Pacific Coast Avionics helped me out on this one. The tech even understood such technical jargon as "that round thingie that goes on the antenna connector."
