John, I am sooooo glad you went flying today!

The WX here in New England was VERY New England and we were all grounded. Hence, I worked on my bulkheads and the project came along nicely!

This means I AM STILL AHEAD OF YOU!

...barely! Looks like you had a great time and that's what it is all about!

That's the plan CJ! Keep you a few steps ahead so you can figure all of the hard stuff out before I get to it!

It was good to get out and go flying. You will really gain on me this next week as I am going to be gone to Alabama and get nothing done on the plane.

I will say, going flying with the guys sure helps the motivation! It is really difficult to believe how good these airplanes are until you fly in one. Even then I need reminded once in a while.

John: I heard on the weather last night there was a 170 wind from the northwest at altitude. (over Minnesota) Realizing you weren't up that high, I wonder if you noticed any particular turbulence and how the RV handled it.

Hi Bob. Actually it was pretty smooth. We had a little turbulence going into and out of Lone Rock but I hardly noticed it. When you've been flying a c-150 everything seems to ride smooth. We did go up to 6500 on the way back hoping to catch some tailwinds but still ended up with a little headwind instead. There was a few pockets that we noticed during the climb. You could watch the lead plane and see it befoe you hit it, nothing very major though.

I do know that Tom O. got his IFR ticket in his 6A. He is in lead in the group photo.

RV's handle the turbulance quite well. Mine does fishtail in heavy turbulance but it is very managable. I went to Arlington, WA yesterday to visit with my son. That's about 268 statute miles from Spokane Felts Field (KSFF)where I keep my 8. The trip over was a little slow and it took about 1 hr and 30 minutes.as I had a head wind of about 40 plus knots. Coming back I left arlington at 4:20 pm and landed at KSFF at 5:27. Total flight used only 24.1 gallons. The GPS averaged about 255 mph at 11,500 msl. This filght was smooth as silk both ways. Sure love it when the terrain goes by that fast!! 8)
I flew it to Colorado the first weekeend in October and had tailwinds both directions. First time that has happened to me. Usually it's headwinds! :o

Will, have you been to Casseville, WI? It is right on the Mississippi and looked interesting. The guys sometimes fly in there also.

No, Haven't been there yet either. Last time we were out that way I flew direct to Prarie-du Chien (PDC). Had breakfast there (and went to Cabelas), then we flew up the Mississippi to La Cross and then on to Eau Claire. It was a great flight

PDC has the coolest little FBO there and Cabalas will actually come and pick you up to take you shopping.

Peter, next time I am invited along I'll let you know where we are heading. Be nice to get done building so I don't have to hitch hike on these excursions.
