Flight photos

Post by svanarts »

Nothing to really write up from today's flight. Having a rough time at work so I just went up for a few just to blow off some tension. Snapped some photos while I was out. Just a quick flight before family arrived to celebrate an early Christmas. They're here on my Picasa site: http://picasaweb.google.com/svanarts/FlyingFotos

Just a teaser to motivate the builders out there. See if you can spot the formation we call the Death Star trench. Since I was flying left-handed and snapping photos with my right I didn't get down too deep into it.

Always a great way to relieve stress.......

The only bummer is when you go back and fill up the gas tank and begin to contemplate whether this is the future reality (gas prices) We are at $4.70 up here, what are you paying in Oakdale? I think Congress should subside aviation exploration and send each American pilot a 10 year gas credit, forget the outerspace stuff

We're paying right around that down here too. It said $4.38 on the pump but I don't remember. Sometimes it is tempting to sell the 4, sell the 7 kit, and buy an old Champ or J3. 3.5 gph and a kick in the pants to fly.

[edit: checked the price on the receipt]

You got to check out this video....

http://youtube.com/watch?v=XS8X1FokJ7g

I have a guy that wants to trade me his Luscombe 8F + $5000k for the Mustang, and after watching this video I am tempted. But Debra likes to fly fast up the coast right off the deck (we havent' hit any birds yet :o). Last time I was seeing 180mph as I went across the Eureka jetty and it's hard to describe how much fun it is to pull a little on the stick and see 2000' in seconds. A guy needs more than one plane?

Cool video.

Nah, a guy needs a plane with seating such that he can take his fat friends for rides. :)

The 4 will go up for sale when it is time to buy the fuselage.

Nice shots Scott, I see what you mean about the trench, yikes.

That luscombe, the 3rd wheel really is for taxi only.

I shot some video flyind down through the bottom of that thing. It's a kick in the pants. Not as daunting as it looks either. It's HUGE. You can see it from space in Google Earth. Check it out:

Well let's see the video. That trench looks like a place to put on the list to visit at some point.

I'll see if I can dig it up. It's a spillway to protect the New Melones Dam. It empties out into an area called Deadman's Gulch. How western is that?! It's fun to fly up it toward the resevoir real low and fast. You come shooting out of there as fast as you can you can almost make the bass fisherman jump out of their boats. Almost.
