9500'...(video)

Post by cjensen »

Perfect evening for a test flight to 9500' to do a fuel burn test, and I'm continually impressed with the video feature of the iPhone (although quality suffers on YT).

Some more numbers...startup to shutdown, 7.8 gallons, 1.1 on the Hobbs, equals 7gph. Cruise portion on the right tank for 30 minutes, 2500rpm, 4.2 gallons (so 8.4gph), 153kts true.

More to come at higher power settings...

It looks like you were running at 2500rpm. FF of 8.5 at 9500ft seems kind of high for that rpm. Are you still figuring out the leaning settings?

Sorta still messing with leaning. I am carb'd so leaning to specifics isn't gonna happen. Leaned till rough then back in, watching temps the whole time. Probably could do a bit better, but it's not terrible...

What will be interesting will be to see where the numbers fall at 7500' and 5500'...

Gear leg fairings are on (they both have a slight warp in them too), no pants yet. I also don't have a slightly heavy left wing dealt with yet...

8.4gph in cruise isn't bad at all for a one hour flight...take a look at those numbers again, and at 1.1 on the Hobbs, adding 7.8 gallons makes the hourly burn 7.1gph. 8)
