Just thought I'd throw out some performance data and see how I compare to others. I did each of these starting at about 1,500 msl, then taking the recorded data from 2,000 msl to 3,000 msl.
At 95Kts my climb rated averaged 2,158 fpm and took 28 sec. with a ground speed of 88 kts.
At 110 kts = 2,165 fpm in 29 sec. and 103 kts ground speed.
At 120 kts = 1,884 fpm in 34 sec and 119 kts ground speed
At 130 kts = 1,657 fpm in 37 sec. and 129 kts ground speed
This data was downloaded from my AF3500 logs with readings taken every 3 seconds and then averaged overall.
I'm leaning towards 100 Kts Vy and 85Kts Vx with a cruise "cooling" climb of 130 kts. What do ya'll think ?

I don't have my numbers in front of me, (on vacation in Playa
) but my numbers were similar. I know the best rate of climb was at a pretty wild AOA, seems like you are hanging on the prop.
I usually climb out at around the 130 you mentioned, no cooling issues, and easy to see.
I never figured how to download the data from my D-180, so I did it with a stopwatch. It is tough to get a consistant AS the first few tries, in a new plane.

Dave,
Nice numbers. I took my logs from my GRT (1 second intervals - 3 times better than the AFS
) and came up with the following charts. Similiar numbers to yours. I didn't have any fairings on the landing gear, so that will definitely affect the tests somewhat.
I prettied my tests up in excel:

Very nice Mike,
Yeah, I have yet to graph them, but will do so and add it to my Owners Manual once I create them.
I can vary the time interval on the AFS, I just thought every 3 seconds is plenty of info for normal use.
I suppose next time I'm doing time critical stuff, I'll change it to every second.
Thanks for sharing the info, it's cool to see what others are getting.
