Life is good again

Post by painless »

After much too long of a hiatus, I finally got a chance to go aviating today. CAVU day, realtively warm (30F). Between working, lousy weather on the days I have had off, and being there for my wife over the last 3 months dealing with a heart condition, I just have not been able to get out there.

Gotta tell ya...it felt GOOD!

Being pilots, we can all understand how releasing flying is from our day to day lives. Flying in an airplane that WE build makes it all that much more gratifying.

On top of all that, I can even re-use the airplane!! :good job:

Keep pounding those rivets folks!

glad to hear you had a great time. im just sitting here contemplating the wires through the tunnel and what method of attachment im going to use.
i wish i would have put in some friggin nut plates for adel clamps. you post lifted my spirits and reminded me of how much i love to fly. On The trip home after flying i dont even listen to the radio, i feel so relaxed and content.

hope your wife gets better. :)

Jeff,

Sorry to heart about your wife's ticker. I can relate. My wife underwent a rather serious major organ surgery this last month. She is back to school tomorrow after an almost two month long hiatus.

I have had a few opportunities to fly during that stint. It is really a good release. I always say that flying is so much fun because during that 1 or 2 hours, nothing else is more important than operating that aircraft and everything else pales in comparison.

Flying is an excellent retreat, so close to home and always at your fingertips. Fortunately, so is building. I spent most of yesterday working on the baggage bulkhead and elevator pushrods. I got in time for the healthclub and Wicked Stick came by to check my work and try the beer that I brought back from Maine this past week.

Life is good.

Thanks guys. My wife has had episodes of tachycardia where she feels like her heart is going to beat itself to death. Not a life-threatening event, but scary for her. She even passed out at work from it and was carted off to the ER.

I thought there for awhile it was all my fault, you know, her heart goes pitter patter any time I'm near her?? But the MD debunked that theory.

So she is on meds that controls it for now. May have a procedure called an Ablation done to fry the area of the heart that causes it to go nuts.

Hope your wife is doing well CJ.

Like you said, flying makes it all go away for an hour or so.

Glad you got some stick time Jeff. Sunday morning was so nice I checked to see if the club plane was available. What a surprise, it wasn't :(

Its gotta be the coolest thing to have your own plane ready to go when you are

Still workin on the wings when I can. Been working ALOT of OT at work.

And of course I did have to go snow golfing last weekend  Only in Wisconsin!

On a side note:

We went to the Otter the other night and they have totally expanded that place. Lots more room now BUT the food is still the same

We were afraid it was under new ownership or something but it is still da bomb.

Good to hear from you Will!

Snow golfing?? Just don't join the Polar Bear Club and start jumping in freezing water! That's a Wisconsin thing too!

You around on Weekends? I want to get down by you one of these weeks now that the weather is getting better....sort of....

Jeff, good to hear you got out. I hope they get your wife's meds figured out. My wife has been dealing with tachycardia for several years now. It can be pretty scary, especially if you don;t know what is going on.

Will, good to see you on the board. Eat some ribs for me, would ya?

John, I did exactly that the other night. You just can't beat the Otter's ribs! How's the boy's schoolin coming? He still hittin the books hard?

Seriously, D and I actually thought we were in the wrong place when we walked into the Otter the other night. They expanded the bar at least three-fold. Which is good cause it used to be a bit cramped in there

Will, I'll give you a call next time I can get out. I'm thinking some Saturday morning. I could use a good breakfast!

I'll try to call the night before to give you a heads up.

Thanks John. She seems to be on an even keel for now. Just that the meds make her feel less energetic. Like you said, it was a bit scary at first.

Will, good to know the food is still great. Karla even mentioned that we need to go to WI to get some ribs again when it warms up. :o

Luke's doing well in school still and enjoying it I think. He works in the archery shop at sporting goods store and is also fishing the BFL bass tournaments in the FLW series. Had his first tournament a week or so ago and got 18th place in the co-angler side. Has another one on Sam Rayburn this weekend. Needless to say he is staying busy.

Where you at on your wings? People say I'm nuts but I really liked the wings best of all the kits so far.

Glad to hear Luke is doing good. I'm ready to rivet the skins on, just haven't gotten to it yet.

Come on over for some ribs anytime!
