Last night I took my first "cross-country" trip to an airport 30 miles away...pretty amazing what these things are capable of. I know we've all heard it before, and I always thought...'yeah, yeah, yeah, we've all heard it, no need to repeat it.' But here I am, repeating it...these airplanes are pretty frickin' sweet!! From start up to shut down was exactly 1.0 on the Hobbs. I taxi out (1.5 miles to the end of the runway), depart, make the 30 mile run to KAAA, did two landings on the grass runway there (one 3 point, one wheeler), both with taxi-backs, departed, said "Hello" to two different farmer buds, back to home base, did a stop and go, then a full stop (both wheeler's), taxi back to the hangar. One hour.
I also grabbed an Enigma screen shot of the Highway in the Sky feature turned on for this trip. Pretty sweet...
Notice-the true airspeed (bottom left corner) has been confirmed with GPS runs to ensure it's accurate, that's with no fairings, 3500ft, in a slight climb, 2500 rpm. Nice!
The fuel flow has NOT been calibrated, but it's probably pretty close. The next flight is the beginning of fuel calibration testing.
My #1 EGT probe is inop, have a new one coming under warranty.
Please ask any other questions about the Enigma that you can think of...
