This is one of those " there I was..." stories. So there I was, tooling along coming home from a local Flyin at 1700 ft AGL, when out of the corner of my eye I see something whip by to the left and just below me. Next thing I know there are geese in front and just above me in various evasive configurations. From what I know, birds usually dive to avoid things, but they being 12 O'clock high, I chose to dive as well. Mind you the dive I made was not severe, but enough to go negative for a split second. Not sure if my steely-eyed piloting or just dumb luck prevented any collisions, but at this point I really don't care.
Proud to say no underwear were damaged or sacrificed in this encounter, but as is said in DA UP (upper penninsula of Michighan), HOLY WA!!!!!!
It's that time of year folks. Be careful out there.

Good evasive maneuver Jeff! I survived a goose attack in 2011 just after completion of Phase One.

Since then I take the initiative. If I see geese flying I am herding them back to their swamp

Couple days ago saw a flock at 8,500 over the Carolinas. I had a passenger so there were no revenge...

Doc, sounds like quite a stunt you pulled off!
I agree with the climbing maneuver. Birds always tuck and dive.
Sounds like your plan worked out fine.
Vlad is Zen-like. He is ONE with the birds!
hahaha
