Cleveland ...

Post by Spike »

Poeboy and I flew out to Cleveland for lunch a few weekends ago. We landed at Burke Lake Front airport which is right downtown on the shore of lake erie. The controler was not what I would call a patient or friendly person, but the FBO was great and the flying the pattern is pretty slick.

It was generally a pretty simple trip, though we got to dance with the clouds a bit. The ceilings got lower the closer to Cleveland we went, and we even managed to go through a bit of precip. All in all it was a great trip. I also recommend the Hornblower restaraunt. Its right next to the airport, and if your interested the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame is 1/4 mile away from the airport also.

Here are some shots.

Nice pics spike! I've been to Burke Lakefront one time, but the weather was TERRIBLE. Heavy snow, 200 ft, and a 1/2 mile. I was only there for a few minutes on a quick turn, but the FBO was great!

Sounds like you had a great visit. Is that your 172?

Attaboy, Spike, nice report. What Spike hasn't 'fessed up to is that (1) they're my pictures (except for the plane), (2) I had to bug him to get this report posted (but only once and he's been busy, what with the house and all), and (3) I am one of the other co-owners (newly proud and poor) of the 172. When he suggested going to Cleveland for the day, I thought he was nuts, but it was not as far as I thought. Just kidding, Spike - it was a fun trip and one I'd like to do again, thanks for dragging me along.

Oh yeah, the mosquitos around the lakefront were big enough to need N numbers! One of 'em picked up a french fry from my lunch plate :o

Only 3 weeks 'til we leave for Osh!

Drew Carey says, "Cleveland ROCKS"!

I have relatives there, and Burke is on my list of airports to visit.

Thanks for the photos, Spike!

See you and the "Poe one" at OSH!

This is gonna be WICKED GOOD!
