WOW!!! WHAT A RIDE!!!!
WOW!!! WHAT A RIDE!!!!
This morning at 8:30 am pacific, N742DA cut the surly bonds of earth and entered into her proper environment! She flys!!,---She flys!!
Wow What a ride!! Perfect in trim. No heavy wing, climb like an angel, cruise at 2500 rpm and 23.5 in map, without farings was about 165 knotsIAS.
Stall clean at about 47 knots indicated and dirty at below 40 kts. ias. i'm sure the airspeed needs a little calibrating but it sure sounds good. I only had about 20 gal. of fuel so that might make a difference. With the WW prop at about 90 kts and flat pitch, push the throttle fwd and you get pushed into the seat back!! Fun! Fun ! fun ! When I pull the throttle back the brakes come on! A REAL PLEASURE TO FLY!!!! Squeeked it on with a wheel landing!
Can't wait until next weekend to fly more!! ( Today is the wifes' birthday so no more flying today)
I have an after pic if I can figure out how to download it. (Help Spike!!)

Congrats Dan, hopefully in another year or less, I'll be doing the same 1st flight and having as much fun as you did.
Looks like a WW200RV prop by the pictures.
Good luck flying off phase one, and spend the time getting to know your new bird thoroughly during this phase.

Yes, She still flys great. I now have about 132 hrs. on her and it just keeps getting better! That first flight was July 4, 2005! She goes from Eastern Washington State to central Colorado in about 4 hrs and 45 minutes and burns about 8.5 gph!!
G, The prop is a Whirlwind 200RV composite cS prop and I really like it. No problems and is smooth and quiet. Whirl wind props are used by a good number of aerobatic competition pilots. They are light and tough!
Keep pounding those rivits people!!, It's worth it!!
