A day of flying

Post by Spike »

Last Saturday met David at the airport to take the Cessna to the man for an oil change. Once that was done we took back off and flew over our home airport FDK:

over to another local airport which is fairly small.

On the way we passed over Patti and my new house:

The one in the middle with the pool is ours. The shed on the left side of the picture is where I hope to put up my manly workshop one day.

The destination airport sits on top of a hill and had some pretty gusty winds that morning. It definately schooled me a bit as we got hit with some gusts right before touchdown. The problem with this airport is that its only 30'x1800' so keeping your speed up for gusts is not really an option. Anyway, David was gracious about the landing. Here is a pic on final:

We picked up some oil and visited Neil who is almost done with his 8A. Aftwards we flew back to FDK to fly a bunch of Young Eagles for our chapter. The chapter was hosting a boy scout troup and we managed to give rides to 16 kids plus some parents. All in all a very fun and enjoyable day hanging around airplanes and people.

sounds like a great day spike! you have a nice piece of property. i like the big trees and circle drive. FDK is AOPA hq, right?

i love those little strips that give you a good challenge to get in and out of. keep those skills sharp! :)

Yup sure is. You never know when Boyer is going to taxi past in his 172 or the AOPA's Lear *snicker*
