Guys:
Since CreativeAir is running an end of year special on their Avi-Pak strobe power supply, I was thinking of getting one.
Has anyone used one? Any comments on the value, performance, features . . .

Antony,
I considered them but after shopping around, I found virtually the same thing for a lot less here:
http://www.strobes-n-more.net/product_i ... ucts_id=28
They've changed the website a bit from when I purchased, but this is the closest kit to what I have, except my powerpak is a 4 outlet, not a 6 as shown.
They are located close by too, in Westerly, RI, so shipping was fast.
Also, Service was excellent as I had asked to change the lengths of the cabling to fit my needs.

interesting
Thanks for the tip Dave. I am going to compare this to the CreativAir product to see if there are any differences.

Be careful...
While many of the strobe power supplies sold, including the Creative Air, are made by the same company (Nova), the flash rate on many of the emergency vehicle units is considered too high for aviation. Don't quote me on this, but I seem to recall that for aviation the flash rate should be between 50 and 100 flashes per minute, while many of Nova's emergency vehicle units flash at higher rates (140 flashes min). I am not talking about the flash pattern, but that flash rate.
I got a deal from a private party on a new 604HR (also a Nova unit). The 604HR is essentially a Nova XPAK-604X with the flash rate cut in half, hence the "HR" for Half Rate.
I have no experience with them, but the 604HR is only sold by a company called GS-Air. IIRC, its about $160. I haven't tested it yet, so I have no idea if it does what it says, but I have no reason to doubt.
EDIT: One more comment. The CreativeAir unit is an aviation specific unit. My understading it that it is not an emergency vehicle unit that has been renumbered or rebranded, but instead it has been spec'ed out solely for aviation purposes. From what I have read it is an excellent unit, but it is a bit pricey. I guess you get what you pay for.
