Schematic for land/taxi lights

Post by itisgood »

Hello RB friends,
I have a question I want to wire two landing lights to one rocker switch, and then turn one of them off with a rocker switch to use as a taxi light.

What is the schematic for such a configuration.

Thanks
Dave

If that's what you want, it's going to be two 'rocker' switches either way - so why not wire up two switches for two lights, and then the choice is yours - simple

Thanks John,
yes that is true to turn them both on at the same time for landing and shut one off for the taxi.
However, I guess I really did not want to turn them both on for the landing. I thought that there must be a way to turn on the landing and then a switch for the taxi. But maybe not.
On my Cessna 172 there was a push/pull switch that worked, pull all the way out for the landing and push partial way in for the taxi.
I suppose I could install one of those, however I wanted a rocker switch.
I just thought; I could use a split rocker? push both for landing and then the other half for the taxi.
Thanks for the thoughts,
Dave :)

Here's what Bob Nuckolls suggests in his AEC e-book in chapter 11. It's great reading if you're looking for good ideas.

Dont' forget to add in a relay so your not pre-maturely wearing out the rocker switch if your lights are drawing lots of amps.
