Wires or Cables

Post by flywulf »

Hello All,

I have a creative air strobe pak and need to figure the wires needed. Their guide recommends 16AWG for the length but does not specify if it need to be a shielded cable with three conductors or just 3 separate wires without shielding.

Would strobes without shielded wire interfere with the comm/nav radios?

thanks,

Ed

are you talking about the 12V to the power supply?

I would assume you are talking about the power and trigger leads? The lines to the strobes themselves should be shielded cable and routed clear of the other lines.

Shielding might be a good idea but I don't know for sure.

CreativAir

I think you are getting the idea about the call outs from creative air, not enough to go by. I think the AC 43.13-1B is going to have to answer this one.

I will gladly post the results of my research when it is available.

3-conductor shielded from the power pack to the strobes, standard unshielded for power and ground. Wrap your power and ground 3 turns together through a ferrite core to knock down electromagnetic interference in the power/ground wires, it will radiate from them like an antenna.

Building a 9A with too much fuel and too much engine - should drop dead any minute now.
