when placing extra holes in a rib how close can you come to existing openings without creating a problem?

PK, check out the spec from this doc in the document share. I think it will provide the answer for you in Table VII.

Thanks John, but that seems to be for rivet spacing. My issue is that I put a jig pin hole close to a lightening hole.

When I placed the jig pin hole I didn't allow for the lightening hole flange. Now I fear that the jig pin hole is too close the the bend of the flange.

I don't see that as being a problem whatsoever. I put my conduit hole in about the same location as your hole, and that was more or less per plans (although it's on the top, instead of the bottom... ).

Looks good to me!

Looks good to me! Of course, I don't know what I'm taking about.

I put conduit holes in my ribs too. About 5 minutes later, I discovered a note from Vans suggesting where to put conduit holes ... and of course it was different than the place I picked. I sent a note and picture to Vans, they replied that my holes were OK. That let me sleep peacefully at night.

You might want to go back to the designer. Send the picture and question to Mr Bearhawk, see what those good folks have to say. Hey, I bet they want to hear from you too!

While not proof of anything other than what Vans does, here is a picture of one of my ribs with two tooling holes that were part of the manufacturing process, I did not add either. I wouldn't think you have problem.
