Wig wag question
Wig wag question
I Heard that the later models of the Airbus have their landing lites on a wig wag circuit (activated by the flaps)... anybody doing this on an RV? Anyone have any ideas about the wiring issues involved?

I used Bob Knuckoll's wig wag unit which is basicall a turn signal flasher. Works great. I turn it on whenever I enter a traffic area of any kind. Also turn it on whenever visibility is poor. I agree with the others, you may find you want to turn it on more often than just when you delpoy flaps. Standard disclaimer applies; it's your airplane build the one that you will enjoy most.

If you used a microswitch on the flaps to activiate the wig-wags, you would still need some sort of switch to over-ride that so you could just turn on your taxi and landing lights and not have them flash.
To me, it's just simpler to add "activate wigwag" to the old GUMPS prelanding checklist.
FWIW, I used a Galls flasher (used on police cars) for my wigwags.

Yeah, and what's cool is Galls sends you catalogs for awhile of police stuff!cjensen wrote:I had a Galls flasher on my last RX-7...worked great, and I know I could get the attention of someone in front of me!painless wrote:FWIW, I used a Galls flasher (used on police cars) for my wigwags.
That's what I will use if I put wigwags in.
