Someone sent me a question about jacking my aircraft. I have been jacking an RV9A on the tie down ball for 14 years. I drilled a large recess in the top of the jack rod for the ball to reside in when jacked. I also place a loose pin in the hole for added security. I have rocked the aircraft (by accident) all the way down to the tail concrete trash can several times and the jacks are secure.

and to answer an emailed question. if I did the concrete trash can tail tie down weight again, I would use about half the amount of concrete for an RV9A. the current version = 275 lbs.
and this paint chip if from me stepping the foot step when jacked and banging the tail down on the pipe. now I put a roll of foam there.
