Tank Skin To Baffle Countersinks - Depth?

Post by aparchment »

Guys:

I countersunk the tank skin at the skin to rear baffle joint, but I only went to a normal depth for the -3 rivet heads. Do you guys think I should go deeper to accommodate the proseal?

Nope. You won't put sealant in those rivets. The sealant goes on as a bead before you slide the rear baffle in place. This will smear it enough that sealant is not needed in those rivets.

Agreed, mine actually sit a bit proud of the surface!

I wanted the depth to be as shallow as possible for strength. I figured that any material sitting proud will be "DA'ed" off when the paint is applied.
