Tanks: Float Sensor with Flop Tube

I know most have elected to install the capacitance type sensors, but has anyone installed a float type fuel quantity sensor in the same tank with a Flop Tube? The plans have you mount it to the baffle in the next outboard bay.

It would be great to hear from anyone who has done this before I attempt it.

Yep, I did it! No problems at all. Here's a few pics...

I cut the one access plate for a template (you will have to order the access plate cover with no holes in it from Van's).

Here's a shot of the outstide of the baffle with the stiffener ring riveted in place. That ring is made from the one I cut out in the above pic.

And inside-

You have the exact same setup I decided on!

I actually made the T-411 out of 0.063 yesterday at work

I am curious though as to why you (and everyone else I see) sealed the access panels with PRC when Vans provides a cork gasket. What gives?

I didn't want wires running thru my tanks, and even though there are no moving parts in the capacitance senders, IF you have problems with them, they are hard to service. The float unit comes right out if it needs work.

I did use the gasket as well. Peace of mind is the only reason I used PRC too. I've heard that the gasket alone can leak...
