Are you installing a parking brake?
Guys, sorry I haven't posted a pic of my install yet -- I have been fighting with my beloved parking valve the past two nights. I finished my brakes up on Sunday and started the bleeding process. Well, wouldn't you know it, but I have one leak. The funny thing is the leak isn't where you would think it would be (one of the plastic tubes). It is in the &*^%&%$ parking valve itself
A fellow RV builder came over tonight to help me with the bleeding process (a whole other story), and we both agreed it was the valve itself that is leaking on the right side. So, after some disassembly and inspection, we didn't see squat wrong with it. It has two o-rings that seal things up on the inside, and neither of them seemed monkeyed up.
Reassembled, bled, and sure enough, the sucker still leaks. We actually both saw it leaking from the valve itself. I am gonna pull it again and have a look at the o-rings under magnification.
Keep this in mind while making your decisions, gentleman. Oh, and here a little tidbit of info for you -- brakes bleed a whole heck of a lot better when you have the parking valve OFF

we don't need no stinkin' brake
Heck why would I install a parking brake and deprive the ramp watchers of all that entertainment. Heck I might even give them a show like my friend did last weekend when after hand propping his cub he slipped on the ice trying to get in, fell onto the step and got wanged in the head by the stabilizer.

Hmmmm, methinks I will go with it!
Thanks guys. You spend my money real good.

Yes, the Grove unit is nice. Grove's stuff is always first class. Robbie sent me the first production unit to play with. The spacing between input fittings is narrower than the Matco unit since he made it to match the Cleveland unit so I have to modify my mount slightly, but it works much better on a n RV-8 than the MAtco due to the indexable arm.

Re: nothing to technical
Willie, yah... pics would be great. I have been noodling this over in my head. I am wondering if placing the valve down where the normal firewall PENETRATION (hehehe) is, may be conflicting with pedal travel, no?weezbad wrote:i if you install it inplace of the bracket on the 7a all you need is the valve 4 fittings and the cable. you do have to fab a bracket but that is straight forward. i can post pics if you like. ive seen the 7 done very similar except the vavle penetrates (your favorite i know) the firewall.captain_john wrote:Okay Willie, I will bite!
Clue me in on what you have in store. You have got my interest piqued!

Oh hey! You got a -7A!
Ummmm, I forgot! Sooo, what I was thinking is to shoot the fittings FROM the valve straight out (no lines, just fittings) through the F/W from the valve to the calipers.
Here is the tech sheet from Matco:

...and here is the one from Grove:

Dan did his this way:
Hmmmm, I think I would rather build another set of wings than plumb this plane. Not really, but an entertaining thought, nevertheless!
