Wheel Pant Size?

Post by s10sakota »

Hi all,

I've been a long time RV lurker and hope to someday build an RV-7A. I am very happy (and surprised) to see that there are no aristocrats and huge egos on this RV forum! Nice job-I love the friendly atmosphere.

So, I have to admit that I right now I am actually building a Rans S-6 but I want to order a set of RV wheel pants for it. My tire size is 16x6.00-6.

Would the RV wheel pants fit this size tire? I imagine this is probably about the size of tire on the RV-10 so I'm thinking those might fit.

Any suggestions?

Thanks in advance!

Mark

I'm not positive on this, but I *think* the two place airplane wheel pants are only sized for 5.00x5 tires. The 10 pants would probably be your best bet.

Another suggestion would be to call Sam James to see if his would work on an S-6. They are expensive, but he does make them for RV's (and others) for 6.00x6 if that's the tire you want.

Sam does the wheel pants, and Will does the cowls, so give Sam a ring at the south shop...

I think Paul Trotter is going with bigger tires...

Paul, what have you come up with for wheel pant solutions ?

I have wheel pants from Sam James that are designed for the RV-10. I expect that the RV-10 wheelpants from Van's would fit as well.

WS is right on the money.

Paul Trotter from New York is putting 6 by sixes on his -8. He checks in here from time to time.

If he misses this thread, contact me and I can find him for ya!

Hi everyone and thanks for the welcome and the replies! I did send off an e-mail to Sam James and he does make wheel pants that will fit my tires-I will order a set from him very soon.

I know that the Rans S-6 isn't exactly designed for all out speed, but I want the fastest cruise speed I can get with it 8)

Thanks again everyone.

I know of at least one other Rans lurker on here too!
