Strobe light question

Post by RVNewsletter »

A questio on the Whelen tail light:

The tail position/strobe light assembly -- the A400AV14 -- has two blue wires coming out of it for the position light. Which one is ground?

I would say that if neither of them have continuity to the case of the light, take your pick.

Doesn't matter for the light itself (definitely want to get those strobe wires hooked up right). The light housing doesn't touch the airframe at all (it is sitting in a fiberglass hole), so i'd pick the blue one as ground :)

I disagree! When I built my plane, I picked the OTHER blue one as ground.

If you can see the bulb recepticle, the center contact is the hot lead. The other one is the ground.

Does a lightbulb know the difference on the direction that electrons are passing through the filament, though? I really don't think it matters at all for this...

Light bulb - no. Strobe power pack, yes.

Building a 9A with too much fuel and too much engine - should drop dead any minute now.
