Excess Alloy Angle

Post by JOHN TIPTON »

Hi Guys

In our RV9a wing kit we have some alloy angle spare (yes: I know not to touch the two longerons) and a friend who is building a -7 wants 4ft of the 063x3/4x3/4 which I have about three 'good' lengths of, how much of these spare lengths will I need for the future - can I give away 4ft

Hey John,

I am well into my fuse on a 9A, standard kit all around. I don't remember having much spare angle left, though I know I have some in the shed and will take a gander when I get a chance.

If he is going to replace it for you then I would say don't sweat it, you won't need it in the immediate future. Ill try to get to the shed tonight and take a look at what I had left over and give you a heads up.

Before it is said and done, you will need most of the .063 angle.....Some of the extra material is used in the fuse and finish kits.

You will use a lot of angle on the instrument panel. You need angle for installing some of the instruments. I made my radio stack opening with .63 angle one on each side, dop and bottom. You may need some angle at the back of the radio stack to brace the rear of the trays. Have your friend with the seve buy some more somewhere.
