Debugging a pneumatic squeezer...

Post by Thermos »

Here's one for all you pneumatic squeezer owners...

I'm unable to 'feather' the trigger on my rebuilt CP-214. Where I used to be able to bring the squeezer ram out slowly and evenly, something is now catching in the trigger (or perhaps somewhere else) that causes the ram to extend at full force and speed as the trigger is depressed about halfway. Fortunately, I haven't created any 'bonus' dimples yet with it. :o

Does this problem sound familiar? If so, how did you fix it?

Thanks,

Dave

I don't know for sure what the problem is but I can say this.....Dont use oil in the squeezer's, it deteriorates the leather components inside. How old is the tool?

I've had it for over two years, and it hasn't been oiled.

Dave,

I rebuilt mine when I got it off ebay and it worked when I was done. No new parts, just took it apart, cleaned it and put it back together. It was a mess. Kinda like cleaning a gun, really.

If you want to come down sometime, we can put it on the bench and see what parts we can break and lose!

I would put money on the case that we can fix it. I always wanted to fix a TRANS-MISH-EYON! (old TV commercial, if you recognize it)

Ok, deal...but I'm leaving your place with a working squeezer! :P Besides, it's about time for another trip to the BBC.
