I don't have a problem with the flying squirrel. They are just helping him imitate that famous squirrel Rocky from Rocky and Bullwinkle. Actually, maybe he was a flying squirrel to start with. Come to think of it, we may need a launcher like that next to the wifes bird feeder this winter.

We really derailed this thread. Maybe we can tie it all back together by saying "Please don't use your bandsaw on a squirrel"

Note: We actually lost some members when that clip was originally posted

Yah, this thread is DEFINATELY HIJACKED!

Not sure how to recover from it, really.

Spike is always good at splitting stuff up.

We definately lost one from the last time the squirrel was posted. I am not sure about "some".

So, what kind of BAND SAW does everyone have?

(That squirrel made a pass at my wife once. He had it coming.)

I can't tell you how many times my ol' bandsaw has kept me working rather than just giving up for the day. I agree it's not an absolute gotta have but it sure makes life a lot nicer.

I'm with Chad (and others), I use my band saw all the time.

When buying one, consider this... blade size. Lots of people who have bought the Harbor Freight band saw have had a real hard time buying blades because of their odd size. I have a Delta which uses 59-1/2" blades, which I believe are a fairly common size for most small saws and are readily available.

The only thing crueler than squirrel torture is what people do to themselves. Did you guys see those other clips? I didn't see the jackass movies, but you get the idea. In fact, I got the idea myself today when my face was introduced to the sidewalk. Yes, learning how to skateboard at 51 DID seem like a good idea yesterday. :o

As far as tools, BUY 'EM ALL!! At the rate I'm not building, I'll never get done, but hell, I used the bandsaw at work as well as the lathes and mills just to get the HS and VS done.

I wouldn't be without the fancy schmancy dimpler or any of the rest of the paraphenalia. Anyway, how much are you going to spend on tools compared to the cost of the airplane? Going first class in the shop isn't a very big percentage of the total bill.

The place I mentioned, Carbide.com, will make a blade to your specs. Whatever length you need, and whatever tpi you need. Like I said, the prices are really reasonable for what you get. Great quality, and custom if needed.

My bandsaw is a Companion Sears brand. Cheaper line than the Craftsman.

The bandsaw that I used to borrow at the old FBO (God rest it's soul) had a welder built into it. If you broke the blade, it had a cutter that you would dress up the break with, and then a splicer that would weld the blade back together, build right into it. Then you just adjust the wheels a bit so the blade would fit and you'd be back in business. Big ol' honking thing but it was great!
