Ex-Cell air drill

Post by cjensen »

Anybody ever heard of that one?? You have now! I bought one over the weekend after my CP went TU...I couldn't wait for the Matco guy to get here on Monday (now today), so I ran out to Farm and Fleet to buy a new CP, but they were out of stock, so I bought this Ex-Cell (DevilBliss) brand on sale for $30. This thing works great! I may not need to buy a new CP today (probably will anyway, but...).

So far, so good on this cheapie! 8)

While I'm on this air drill subject, what the heck is the difference between this $30 drill, and the $250 Souix? Other than $220... :?

One thing you might look at, if you haven't yet, is whether the cheapo runs true. Put in a long bit or a reamer, run it, and see whether the tip looks larger than the root -- sort of a narrow cone shape. If the chuck "runs out" (out of round) your holes will be oversize. I always check this when changing cutters, because careless chucking of a tool will make the tool run out even when the chuck runs true.

Well, just as you suspected, el cheapo wasn't quite true. Pretty close, but not true. So, I bought a nice new Matco from the tool guy today! Lookin' forward to using this baby! 8) It was a little more than I wanted to spend, but this thing is straight as an arrow, and they'll fix it if it ever needs it!

That's great, Chad! They say quality is remembered long after price is forgotten.
