The shop is comin' along...

Post by cjensen »

I spent Sunday working on my shop, doing more drywall. Here's a shot of the 1/2 in two and half car garage that'll used for aircraft manufacturing.

Image

Where the saw horses are, there will be a 4x8 foot table. The florescent light will be hung above, and the table against the wall will be the back rivet/dimpling table. The table saw will be moved when the big work table goes in.

Here's another shot of the back of the shop.

Image

The area under the bikes will be the grinder and prep/polishing area with benches against the wall.

Thought I'd share how my space is coming together. I still have two more walls to finish drywalling and trim work to do. No mudding or paint gonna happen here. It will be heated and have cable TV!

Chad-

Lookin' good!

Good call on the no mud or paint - there isn't much that is more of a PITA than mudding drywall (based on my limited experience!)
Now all you need is a beer fridge and you're all set!

I'm pretty limited on mudding experience as well, but I have done it enough to know that I don't want to do it if I don't have to!

Beer fridge is a neccesity and will go right under 4x8 table, already have the spot planned!

Looks GREAT! Doesn't even resemble the other pics!!!

If there is a party wall between a living space and the garage, it will need to be rocked with 5/8" AND MUDDED!

It needs a 3 hr. burn through rating. If there ever was a problem, the insurance company would have a leg to stand on.

The beer fidge is a NECESSITY!!!

Thanks John, I am happy with it so far!

Yeah, I know about the 3 hour burn rating. 5/8t" is required for that wall, and, unfortunately, it will have to be mudded-but not the others! :)

I used 5/8" for the ceiling, and 1/2" for the other walls.

mmmmmm......beeeeerrr...it's that time!

Here's my finished work area in the shop-

Image

And here's an outside-lookin-in shot of the shop all finished-except the mud on the living space wall. That's gonna be done soon, and that's IT!

I'm done inventory-ing the tail kit, and now have to wait a few days to get started on anything. Life takes over for a few days with family birthdays to celebrate.

Just kidding. I'll be started soon!

Ahhh...

My wife's "this-is-what-I'm-driving-until-kids-come-along" car. She LOVES that car! It's pretty fun to drive (when I get to), and sounds great too!

Thats what you think until she found out how much you are going to spend on an engine. Then she will start questioning lots of things ;)

Shhhhh....

Don't say that too loud, or she'll make me take a second job to buy her that Bimmer she's been eyeing. :bang:
