I used my previously approved process (see http://www.rivetbangers.com/cgi-php/for ... php?t=1273 in case you missed it) when applying paint to my baggage floor and seat pans.

I have some debris in the finish that I am not pleased with but, considering the location of the part... I can live with it!



Things I have learned:

1) The appreciation of a dust free environment
2) What the value of a "tack" coat is on the final finish

I think I may actually paint this thing myself!

As as shown in that other thread, this is the DuPont Nason line. It is DuPont's commercial line of products. They are commonly available at local auto parts stores and none too expensive either!

did you end up using veriprime plus a sealer again, or did you go with a primer/sealer or epoxy primer, or what?

I used the Nason 491-17 Etch Primer with the same 422-23 sealer that I used on the bumper.

I am looking at the 491-35 Ful-Poxy Primer/Sealer as a replacement because I am now out of the old 422-23 stuff.

They have 2 Primer/Sealers in their product line. I am selecting 491-35 Ful-Poxy because it will adhere to bare metal AS WELL AS fiberglass! I see it as a more well rounded product and wish to only stock one product of this nature. This way I can use it on the cowling and wheel pants as well!

cool stuff! I may do some more experimenting with coatings soon. I bought my veriprime from a place called Autocolor locally, but I hate the place. It's inconvenient and the people are jerks. I found another place that's actually a Napa paint store, and I like the store a lot, but they don't stock dupont stuff, they have their own brands, and Martin Senour auto paints. It's also a LOT cheaper than dupont products as a rule.

I've used their high-build filler primer for prepping motorcycle fairings for paint, and I used one of their 2 stage topcoats for the bike fairings, and I was quite happy with the products.
