The beauty of vinyl

Post by svanarts »

Trying to be cheap and flexible I decided to use vinyl lettering and stripes. I have the guy from the vinyl shop coming out next week but I did the lettering for the N number myself.

Here's the lettering being applied:

Here is the finished product:

I'll post the big picture once the big stripes are on.

This is the website that I ordered the lettering from if anyone is interested in doing the same thing: http://doityourselflettering.com/index.htm

That looks really good! I am thinking that vinyl might be the way I go for various reasons. Keep us informed on how it goes Scott!!

Looks great Scott! I used to work as a "production engineer" at a sign shop, and we did vinyl graphics daily. It's super easy, and looks great! Nice work!

I talked with a kid at a graphics shop about my RV and he was excited about the prospect of doing an airplane. He kept asking "You got pictures? Send me some pictures!".

Hey Smitty,

I heard that Trojan was looking for a plane that they could "wrap" with their ad. I think you could even get them to cover the costs.

Looks good Scott, and the risk factor is a whole lot lower than getting a fancy paint job.

Vynl Graphics

Post by Bob Barrett »

I have my fuselage, vertical stablizer, and rudder all painted fire engine red. The wings, horizontal stablizer and elevators are painted white. The wing tips, landing gear etc. will all be red also. Then I am going to have a white vynl stripe one inch high at the front and six inches at the rear with N 784TB cut out in three inch letters. I have a tenative agreement to get the stripes for $50. I couldn't begin to get that painted on the fuselage for $50!

My stripes are going to come in a little over $50. I'll let you all judge for yourselves whether or not it is worth it.
