Does Zinc Chromate need to be prepped with ethching?

Since Zinc Chromate is not "self etching" do I need to pray on some "etching" material prior to painting?

Thx,

Etching before zinc chromate

My AI with long experience says all you need to do is go over the surface with Scotch Brite. Tried it & it seems to work well & it doesn't take long. Then degrease with acetone & spray away!

Sounds good. I actually did that on the exterior of my -6 and it worked really well, but I was never sure if I was actually following the 'rules'.

Thx,
