Good deal Spike! I have N918PP reserved; the story behind it is simple. It's a tribute to my marriage. The "918" part refers to our anniversary (18 September). The "papa papa" comes from my wife's statement that in spite of being two very different people, we're still two peas in a pod (2 Ps, get it?)! I know, not the most clever idea, but it means a lot to me. :luv:

I like the letter "P" in the tail number. When responding to calls you can simply say "8, pop, pop". Nice and short! Spike, yours is a but longer. Mine is the lengthliest. I suppose it is a good thing that I like it!

"Seven, Juliet, Sierra... thanks for the hospitality, 1200, adios!"

Another N-Number Reservation!

Post by Guest »

I just reserved mine too! N104GR.

The 104 part? My grandfather (deceased many years ago) had reserved N104R, which the R stood as the first letter of our last name, Robertson. Since he never finished the experimental before his death, I thought it would be cool to utilize the 104 part. As a matter of fact, he still has N104R reserved, and he has ben deceased for 17-years! I am certain I could have sent in family documents and got the 104R released to me, but since everyone calls me GR, I figured I would combine the two!

And here I thought I was the only builder to use their anniversary as their N number. 728GD, July 28 is my anniversary date and I had requested DG for Dale and Gayle, mine and my wifes name. The FAA sent back 728GD!! She got top billing even on my airplane!!

N Number Search

Post by Guest »

For those that are not aware of the web site, www.landings.com has a link to search US N numbers. Go to the link and scroll down to the bottom of the page, I think it is the second column. There is a heading called Search/Ref. Click that and in the center of the page there is an option for Registrations and right below it is a clickable link called Basic Search. By clicking that link, you can enter a number and see if it is already taken. It states that it is updated monthly, but I am not sure if planes that are out of registration are removed from the list.

Long post for just a FYI

The first plane I ever owned was an Aeronca Champ, N3115E. I learned more about flying in that plane than I could tell you. So as a tip of my hat to my beloved Champ (which I had to sell to finance the fuselage and wing kits) I reserved and now use N311SV - SV - my initials
