Armrest stiffeners

Post by cjensen »

John Roberts and I were talking on the phone tonight, and he mentioned to me that he was working on his armrest stiffeners. That reminded me that I had forgotten to post the pics of how I made mine. I'm sure this is standard across the board for those that do this, but here's my pics anyway. I just used some 3/4x3/4 1/16" angle from Ace Hardware. All edges where rounded to save some weight, and make them safer.

Looks good Chad. Almost exactly like I did mine. I'll post some images when I get them riveted.

Well, today I got these riveted and here are the photos. I did mine slightly different as I put the rivets on the flange. The added angle sure makes them a lot stiffer. I used .063 3/4x3/4 ange and ripped it down to about 1/2x1/2 so it fit the flange. I'm pleased with the results.
