nah, that's a $9k bike. Looks like a lot more, cause it's effin hot!

That bike is superceded in hotness (to me) only by a few bikes, like the Ducati 1098s for example. A 1098s IS an RV engine price :(

I spent the weekend playing with fiberglass and carbon fiber and lightweight filler and paint, getting my old bike all lookin' sharp.

It's a 93 yamaha FZR600, and quite fun. It looks so good now that people have been offering me like $4k for it, which is what made me think about buying a new bike!

Image

the side fairings are done too, I just haven't put them on yet cause it's a pain. Same with the windscreen, it's on now, but wasn't for the pic.

That front fairing had a big goofy vent above the headlights which I filled and deleted. The stock turn signals had giant mount points and I filled them so the flushmounts look better. I didn't like the way the flushmounts screwed in from the back, so I riveted nutplates to the fairings :D

I have two bikes for sale right now to obtain engine funds.    Causes mixed emotions.

If anyone is looking check them out at:

http://agfp.com/motorcyles/ and

http://agfp.com/motorcyles/ktm/

I broke down and picked up a four wheel equivilent to a motorcycle this spring. My wife liked it. 8)

Works better than the bike for my work and is almost as much fun. With the twin turbos it is also about as fast as either of the two bikes I have for sale, just don't tell the wife that.

Spike: Oh, yeah, I bought it yesterday! I was considering a speed triple, which is basically the Tiger 1050 but naked. The Sprint ST is nice, but WAY bigger than I wanted. They daytona is just so light and nimble, I love it. I put 214 miles on it today in the mountains, dragging knees :)

John: Is that the new 335? Those are hot! I have a GLI, which has the same type of direct injected turbo engine, but a 2.0l 4 instead of the 3.0l 6. It's a torquey beast... mine makes 247 lb/ft at the wheels!

Ian, yes it is the 335. I could not believe how hard it pulls when I first drove it. No turbo lag at all, it just goes from low RPM all the way through redline.

Karla wanted a nice 4 door family car that got good gas mileage. So far we are averaging about 28 mpg. Not bad for a family car.

John, you're kill'n me here. I'm afraid my Bimmer is in the form of college tuition for my 4 kids.

Heck.....if I got one now, I would probably be last in line to drive it anyway!

haha yeah, I let my friend Jay drive my GLI, and he said 'I'm pretty sure this thing doesn't have a turbo... it's just a tiny little V8 :D'

Jeff, we had a 318i years ago when the kids were small. Once we outgrew that we got a bigger vehicle. The last 14 years we never had a car just trucks and SUVs. Now that both kids are off to college we decided we would drive something fun for a while. I should point out that it is my company car.

Yeah, I thought my hemi pulled pretty hard. HA! What did I know. :o BMW says 300hp but car and Driver says 350 hp. I do a lot of work for a German company and one of the people there told me that it is because the auto manufactures in Germany get charged a tax on HP. It also handles great, wish we had more curvy roads around here.

Bimmer bummer

Post by aparchment »

I definitely loved my Bimmer, but I didn't love spending time at the dealership fixing all of the annoying things that kept going wrong. Most of those were covered under the warranty, but when I started having trouble with things outside of the warranty period I got rid of the car last year. I bought an Infiniti G35X and so far I love this thing. Not only is it loaded and great value for the money, but it's incredibly fast, handles better than my BMW and is awesome in the snow. I do miss the 30+ miles to the gallon my Bimmer was getting though. The G35x is a pig on gas (20 mpg) due mostly to the all wheel drive and my less than sedate driving habits.

I will probably get another Bimmer some day, but it will probably be a pre-owned M5 or something like that. Something that I don't have to drive every day.

Right now my only toy is this plane, and I am being really good about not getting distracted or spending money elsewhere.

Antony
