John, You are right in so many different ways. I never even thought about the other vendors complaining!

I bet you are right about the posts "magically" disappearing. That wouldn't be hard to get around. I have email addy's for most of the current group buy people. I could use them for a mouthpiece.

Besides, I bet between Bob's RV Newsletter and a few other select sites, we could garner some regular visitors. I bet if I did an SL-30 group buy initially, people would come from all corners of the earth and check back OFTEN!

I mean, look at the views this thread is getting!!! I know you lurkers are reading this!

Sooooo, that is my initial plan. Any more advice?

CJ,

I vote for a P-Mag/E-Mag group buy. The P-Mags just recently increased in price by nearly $1000! I wish I had known before the increase.

John, Ain't that the truth!

I will try to pace it so that we get a few paychecks in the meanwhile!

Bret, AWESOME! Good choice! I will seel them out while at OSH and run some ideas past them. I need to look into their product again and see what kind of revisions they have done.

Keep 'em coming, guys!

CJ, while we're on the engine side, what about talking to Airflow Performance and see what they would consider as a discount on their fuel injection systems?

Other ideas...

Andair fuel selectors
Throttle quadrants
Gretz heated pitots
Comant antennas
406MHz ELTs
Bogey bars
Oregon Aero seats

More? You asked...

hmmmmm, Good idea!

I thought about that when I bought minr from Webster Tool (great guy and great bar, BTW), he told me that he wasn't working on much of a margin and couldn't do it.

I believe him. If you have priced raw metals lately, it ain't cheap!

Say there Spike, I have an idea that maybe you could noodle over.

There really needs to be a better way of tracking participants names and contact information other than in the Excel spreadsheet that I maintain.

I know that many people DO NOT want to chime in publicly on a thread and say that they are in. They don't even like to post a reply! Many people are shy and will only participate in confidentiality. We need a tool for the lurkers!

Any ideas there?

A new thread with a poll on the best ideas you've received so far? That way you could limit it to A B C D or E rather than a hundred different suggestions.

I know a lot of people are going glass (myself included) but I'm still have a few key gauges as backups. 2¼" airspeed & altimeter at least, maybe then also vsi and electric AH. Not sure.

Great Ideas, Guys!

All these great components will mean many individual deals.

So what I am thinking is, if I were to make the duration of the buy 30 days instead of the 60 days would that be okay?

I will NOT have 2 buys going on simultaneously, ever. It is just too much book-keeping. I am okay with many brief ones, though. I think that one month is enough time to make a decision, don't you?

group buy

Post by rhb757 »

Hello!
I am new to the group. Building an RV-7A. Interested in group buy for Camlock fasteners for the cowling.
I had an Egg H6 engine on order since Feb. 07. Just found out it was not even started. Order canceled. Having 20 grand sitting around for a year is not my way of doing business, looking now at alternatives. Not interested in John Deer design (Lycoming). any ideas?
Searching for ideas for electric CS prop?
Also will be receiving this month 2 Odyssey EFIS systems. Anybody interested on some info after I played with them for a wile let me know.
rainer@bledsoe.net.

Thanks for any help

Welcome aboard rhb757! Got a name? :P Just kidding! I see your email is Rainer...is that it?

I've had episodes with Eggenfellner (search the Alternative forum if you haven't already...), and have had affair's with the idea of a rotary, Jabiru's, Franklin's, you name it, I probably have a plan for it...hence my "nickname" above my avatar.

I think the best alternative that is still on the horizon for the experimental market is the Deltahawk diesel. Have you checked that out?

Electric CS props...I think the best one out there for the money is the IVO Magnum. $2350 for a three blade, and add the CS controller for another $300. It's a great deal compared to the others available. I have a friend that has one on his H6 RV-7, and he LOVES the prop (likes the engine too).

I like your choice in the Odyssey's. I am planning on an Enigma!

:welcome:

Cam-locs were just done, so you will probably have to wait a while for another. I received an email from Pegasus saying: "Due to strong demand from aircraft makers, lead time for Camloc fasteners is often 52 weeks or more." But they claim to have millions, or something like that, so whatever.
