Landing long........

Post by 1:1_Scale »

I came across this video this morning (labeled as PG-13 due to language): http://www.aviating.com/mooney/video/index.html
Watching it, I'm left in a state of amazement that they didn't go around. He pulled the power a good 15 seconds after I thought he should, and to me, when you're crossing the near end of a ~3500 foot strip at tree top level, it's a good sign that maybe it's time to make another circuit

Wow.

I would like to see the shot of where they ended up - definitely off the runway, but I wonder how close they were to the trees.

The thing is, nobody spoke up about how bad off they were - even well after the point where I started getting nervous! And it sounds like they were both pilots - someone was calling for power off.

That could have been really ugly. Looks like a tricky runway!

I would have liked to see where they ended up. How close to the trees at the far end of the runway did they actually come. Looked like a pretty bumpy ride.
