Sam James Cowl -- 12-14 Week backorder

Post by bullojm1 »

FYI -

For anyone who is planning on using a Sam James Holy Cowl somewhat soon, Liz James emailed me letting me know there is a 12-14 week lead time for those items. If you are interested, you can contact her at liz@jamesaircraft.com and put yourself on the contact list. There is no deposit nor obligation required to put yourself on the list.

For more information on the Sam James Holy Cowl, their website is http://www.jamesaircraft.com .

I've been on the list for a few weeks already, and if you are ready for one Mike, I'll let you have my position when it comes up, 'cuz I'm in no hurry. :)

Chad-

Thanks a lot for the most generous offer! Do you mind if we wait until your name is called for me to make up my mind?

Have you ordered your finish kit now that you know the engine you will be using?

That's fine with me Mike! A couple weeks may not make a difference, but if it will for you, you are welcome to it!

Who said I know my engine!!??  Just kidding...No, I have not yet ordered my finish kit, but I do know I am using a SJ cowl.

I plan to order the finish kit early to mid November.

I just ordered up mine yesterday. Sounds like both of us will be trying to cut the canopy in colder weather! (late winter/early spring)!

I've several other projects that I'll use to fill time if I get to the canopy too fast, and it's still cold out. I plan to put that off until June or July next year.

I have lots of painting left to do in the house.

I have a 1200 VW engine that I want to tear down and rebuild.

Oh, and I intend to start polishing metal!

Cutting the canopy is WAY down on the list for me right now...

WHOA!
I thought you were going with a Lyclone!
Didn't know Sam James made a cowl to fit VW (or should I say "WV") engines...

So what are you gonna use it in? Maybe a Hummel Bird - we watched those at OSH this year - they were pretty sweet.

I know how the side projects go ... I have been away from the -8 (aside from going out to the shop and looking at it) for most of the year due to this home remodel project. Every little thing I start leads to 10 more projects that need to be done .... :(

That's a good question. It flew once before on a Teeny Two, but wasn't quite enough for it. A friend of mine just wanted it out of his hanger, and gave it to me. I've always had a thing for early to mid-50's Beetle's, and that could be my post RV project someday. ???

Sorry for the thread creep...
