Actually CJ and guys I would prefer that we not go through major topic changes mid stream of the thread. We have been getting a bit lax about this lately. Having threads that are not all over the map make it better for people doing topical searches down the road. It also makes it a pain for those who subscribe to the topics because of their validity.
Unlike the listserv groups, everything here gets archived. If something starts to spin off lets either start a new thread, or if needed, I can spin "off topic" posts into another thread with the software.

EDIT After reading back through the thread I decided to split the Doggy and misc stuff out that has come through in the past few days. Lets keep this thread to our discussions on the location of wheel number 3.

At least on rivetbangers we will not get our posts deleted. (Sometimes a little too RAW and uncensored)

HA! Spike, you wrote this in 2005.Spike wrote:Just that Ive heard of 3 or so A variants where the nose wheel collapsed. Most if all of those were due to issues with construction, wheel pant fit, or pilot error. Out of 3K+ flying RV's, where the majority of them are A variants, I dont think prone is the right word to use.
I think "prone" is the right word!

If Spike gets p*ssed off, loses that Christmas feeling and leaves nothing but coal in my stocking, it will be YOUR fault.captain_john wrote:Nearly 18,000 views on this thread! WHOA!!!

Hey John, what are the stats? Number of hours flown by 'A' variants with respect to nose overs? Number of landings? Number of planes flying?
prone -
Yet for some reason, all of the 'real' pilots want to throw stones at nose gear.
*yawn*, get something new to whine about.

prone -
'A's are no more prone to a nose over than TD's are to ground loops. Actually, the TD's are more prone to ground loops than 'A's are to nose over from a physics stand point. Hard surface, rough surface, it doesn't matter since the CG always wants to be infront of the pivot point.–adjective
1. having a natural inclination or tendency to something; disposed; liable: to be prone to anger.
