BUSTED!!!! :-(

Post by 1:1_Scale »

On October 26th, I recieved a letter from the FAA notifying me that my requested N number for my -7, 32GK, had been reserved in my name. Yippee!!

Today, I recieved a letter by certified mail from John Wayne Airport in Orange County, CA that my aircraft, a Cessna 310, registration number N32GK violated their noise ordinance on Dec. 18 :(

Now, I figure I'm in DEEP kimshie over this since 1) I'm aparently flying a twin engine RV that looks like a Cessna and has not recieved an airworthiness certificate, 2) I'm taking it on long cross country flights when I haven't flown off Phase 1, 3) I'm doing this at 6:28 AM when I SHOULD be in bed with my wife, and 4) I don't even have my PPL yet, so THERE'S ANOTHER can of worms Image

So, should I sell my tail kit and tools now and invest the money so that when I get out of prison I can pay for the whole plane? I really am not looking forward to being Bubba's "friend"ImageImage

That is funny. I do hope they write you back and apologize for the 'error' once you explain the status of that registration. Let us know.

About a year ago I got a phone call from the sheriff's office in a county in Ohio. They were checking on some suspicious activity involving a low flying helicopter with my reserved N number.
Turns out the N number I had reserved once belonged to a helicopter in the mid-west. They seemed to believe me when I told them I wasn't a heilcopter pilot, didn't own a helicopter, and was building an airplane & had reserved the number. I still wonder if the helicopter is flying with that number.

Chad, I'm hi-jacking the emoticons from another site I visitImage

I called John Wayne and told them that it wasn't me, and it looks like it was a typo- the owner of 31GK is going to be getting a letter nowImage

I second that comment. If not for the fact that I've only got one last skin to rivet, and that I can borrow John's, I'd be buying one right now.

Similar thing happened to me once back when I owned my Champ. I got a fuel bill and tie-down fee sent to me from some airport in New England. I told them my Champ hadn't been east of the Rockies in 45 years. They were pretty nice about it.

I know the feeling. i got a call several years ago, when I had my T-craft, from Las Vegas FSDO telling me that my aircraft was seen buzzing homes in the city. I had never flown my plane in Nevada let alone Las Vegas. They also were very kind in handling it. And appologized!

The lady that I spoke to was real polite about it and said that she would look into it and call me back. I got the call less than five minutes later. She didn't ask for any proof or anything :) My wife got the mail and opened the letter and got a good laugh out of it from the get-go :)

Glad to see it worked out....I got a call too from the FSDO in LA saying I had flown into the US illegally from mexico and had eluded some F-18s in my Aztec! Wow....I don't even have an Aztec, my RV was years away from being finished, but somehow it had my reserved N-Number on it....oh and on the day in question I was on my way to Iraqi Freedom living on a cot in the RAF Lakenheath Base Gym......they made me write a letter and I haven't heard from them since.....=)
