I think I have to take issue with some of these formation comments.
Chad, the video might be "Boring", but formation flying certainly is NOT!!!
Why not just come right out and just say it guys. "Doug Reeve's" videos of formation flying on vansairforce.net are not something you find interesting. It's a free speech country, so why not just voice your opinion about whome you are referring to.
Ok, granted Doug's videos don't exactly capture the formation flying very well. HOWEVER, might I suggest you go to the following website and watch a few of these formation videos which I find capture formation flying and the dedication and skill required much better:
http://www.glassovercast.com/main.html Go to "OTHER STUFF" then select "Sample Videos". The 2003-2004 hightlight video, and the Vulture Video are the one's to watch. I know Frank personally and he spend's countless hours shooting, editing and producing some really nice video footage.
I have a very strong passion for formation flying, and even though I don't find Doug's videos exciting, I do watch them from time to time. I guess for me though, when I watch them, I'm paying more attention to the pilots station keeping, positions, manuevers, etc. To fly formation well, requires skill, practice, knowledge, and the desire and passion to want to always improve upon it. It also takes TRUST and you must be comfortable with whome your doing it with.
I'm "hearing" most of you commenting on the video presentations of formation flying being poorly done, but I hope you aren't saying formation flying is something that's mundane and boring.
