I flew the Coupe!

Post by painless »

Had a busy flying weekend. Logged 4.0hrs in an Ercoupe giving rides to RC pilots at a funfly. It is the Coupe that was restored by my friend who died this winter. He was the founder and owner of Balsa USA in Menominee MI.
This funfly was billed as a memorial event for him. Even did a flyby in his honor.

This morning, I took the RV for a flight, since I had been cheating on it all weekend. What a difference! I have become jaded with owning and flying such a wonderful airplane. The Ercoupe is a fun airplane to fly, but pales to the RV.

Keep pounding those rivets gang! You are gonna love this airplane!

Sounds like a blast Jeff! The Ercoupe is one of my favorite old airplanes...even tho I've never flown one. I have Ziroli plans for an 80" Ercoupe to build someday...

I like the Balsa USA one better, but it's $$$...

A true Classic!!

If you like Ercoupes, the estate of this same guy has another one for sale that he just finished restoring to LSA standards.

Got $40,000 sitting around??? :o

You should never have spent it all on beers with flowers on the bottle. ;-)

Here you go, 66 choices for you. http://www.crackedkettle.com/store/inde ... c4e9a67333

I usually stay away from those types of beer, but that store will ship to the U.S.

When I go to Amsterdam I spend a bit of my Euros in that store.

I travel over with one bag, and always come back with two bags.....I need the extra room for beer.

Never Rode in an Ercoupe

The 25 Test Flight hours for my RV-6A N784TB have been flown off and I got my first ride in the airplane I built. It was one of the biggest thrills in my lifetime next to the births of our children and grandchildren! It flew like an RV-should  :) Made two flights on Friday 6/12/09 and had hoped to get up again today but the weather is preventing it. Keep pounding those rivets and tightening those bolts for finishing up. My Wife and Sister were supposed to get their first rides with the safety pilot. Then we will be off to a Young Eagles Rally on Saturday. It is well worth it.

No I haven't soled yet because the the FAA and my Cardiolgist disagree! My Cardiolgist says there is not reason I shouldn't fly and airplane and the FAA has turned me down. I am going to have another try again this fall for a medical. :bang: It is still great to fly in the airplane I built :) :) :) There are worse things in life than not being able to fly my own plane!
